How Often Should We Resurvey?

Created by IRIS Client Success, Modified on Wed, 4 Mar at 1:32 PM by IRIS Client Success

Resurveying allows you to measure growth over time. The right cadence depends on the intensity of development between surveys.

General Guidelines

High-intensity coaching or structured programs
Resurvey every 8+ weeks.

Ongoing leadership development or workforce programs
Resurvey every 6–12 months.

Minimal or informal development
Allow more time between surveys to ensure meaningful change can occur.

Important Considerations

  • Change reflects intervention. If no development work occurs, scores are unlikely to shift significantly.

  • Avoid resurveying too frequently without structured coaching, training, or feedback cycles.

  • Align survey timing with program milestones (e.g., end of cohort, quarterly review, leadership transition).

Measuring Growth

When participants retake the survey using the same account, IRIS automatically connects the results. This allows you to:

  • Compare individual results over time

  • Track progress against Targets

  • Observe shifts in behavioral intensity

For group-level growth analysis, consider using data exports or contacting support for guidance.

Recommended Practice

Before sending a resurvey, ask:

  • Has meaningful development occurred?

  • Has enough time passed for behavior to shift?

  • What decision or evaluation will this new data inform?

Resurvey with intention.
